UPDATE : USERSCRIPTS IS KILL, USERSCRIPT LINKS WILL BE REPLACED AT A LATER DATE.
Since electronic devices are stupid by nature, let's add a bunch of shit to our web browsers to minimize the amount of steps needed to do things, thus maximizing the time spent looking at inane stuff! This is useful for things you do over and over since they help minimize the number of steps taken and automate stuff.
Doing the Firefox section first since that's what I use but I will look for the Chrome equivalents and post them if they exist.
Part 1 : Basic Add-Ons for functionality
Before we begin
Some add-ons become incompatible with Firefox on later versions due to maximum version number but they still work 100%, before we start, install Nightly Tester Tools and enable "Force Addon Compatibility".
addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/nightly-tester-tools/?src=ss
General web browser annoyances:
Ads, pop-ups and just annoying shit in websites.
Adblock Plus : Handles hiding ads very well so get this. If you want to support a specific website just enable ads on that specific page from the ABP icon.
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock-plus/cfhdojbkjhnklbpkdaibdccddilifddb?hl=en-US
Make sure you uncheck the box that allows non-intrusive ads to be displayed.
The following two add-ons aren't necessary most of the time so only get them if they serve a function that ABP doesn't take care of.
Adblock Plus Pop-up Add-on: This is an add-on for ABP to handle pesky new page pop-ups that sometimes aren't caught
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/adblock-plus-pop-up-addon/?src=ss
Chrome - No equivalent found yet.
Adblock Plus Element Hiding Helper: This is another add-on for Adblock Plus that let's you hide specific elements on websites.
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/elemhidehelper/?src=ss
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock%2B-element-hiding-h/ahieappfkblneagblagpodhjmnhcbfdn?hl=en-US
Improving the URL bar to use it as a powerful search engine
Instantfox : Powers up the Firefox URL bar to have a ton more functionality and customization. Use it if you're tired of having to go to a specific website just to search for something and just do it from your browser instead!
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/instantfox/?src=ss
Chrome - Chrome kind of does this out of the box but you have to set it up yourself and can take longer than necessary if you go to many sites. Looking for a faster alternative but probably not necessary.
Improving website readability and functionality
NoSquint : Webpages too small and can't read shit? This is for you!
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/nosquint/?src=ss
Chrome - Chrome kind of sort of has this functionality built-in but not really. NoSquint let's you zoom text only leaving the rest of the page intact, but on Chrome you can zoom in everything (can also do this on Firefox), still looking for alternative.
Right to Click : Webpages blocking your right click so you can't save that smut or nice art? While browsers have the functionality to kill whatever code alters the context menus, sometimes you WANT those extra features so disabling it browser-wide doesn't do you any good. This is for a more precise approach as you can disable it only on specific pages and leave the rest of the pages you visit intact.
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/righttoclick/?src=ss
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/allow-right-click/hompjdfbfmmmgflfjdlnkohcplmboaeo?hl=en (Thanks to Kaiten for the link.)
linkcheck : Checks the status of many common download websites to see if the links are valid before you get slapped with that 404.
Firefox : addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/linkcheck/
Chrome : chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/linkcheck/iepelhgpllohpijfdfhdmcmhofhboegk?hl=en-GB
FoxClocks : Adds a customizable clock to your browser. Handy if you're lazy like me and just need to know the time while surfing the net.
Firefox : addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/foxclocks/?src=search
Chrome : Lots of crappy clock extensions to go through.
Download Statusbar : If you don't like the built-in add-on manager, this is a good alternative. Provides customization options for a lot of things. Version 2 coming "soon", whenever that is.
Firefox : addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/download-statusbar/?src=search
Chrome : Hahahaha, that's funny.
Thumbnail Zoom Plus : Shows you the full image when you hover over thumbnail.
Firefox: addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/thumbnail-zoom-plus/
Hover Zoom : Chrome equivalent
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hover-zoom/nonjdcjchghhkdoolnlbekcfllmednbl
Better Youtube Subscription : Makes the youtube subs not crappy! Thanks @the Duke for re-tweeting this.
Firefox : addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/better-youtube-subscription/
Chrome : Will find later.
Information recovery tools to reduce your rage
Lazarus: Form Recovery : Tired of your browser crashing or giving you errors and completely forgetting everything that you typed? This add-on will bring that text back from the dead!
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/lazarus-form-recovery/?src=ss
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lazarus-form-recovery/loljledaigphbcpfhfmgopdkppkifgno?hl=en
Session Manager : Does your previous session not load sometimes? Try this
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/session-manager/?src=ss
Session Buddy : Same extension but for Chrome.
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/session-buddy/edacconmaakjimmfgnblocblbcdcpbko?hl=en
Reverse image searching and hosting:
Google Image Search : for general reverse image shit. It's basic and to the point.
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/googlesearch-by-image/?src=search
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/search-by-image-for-googl/agdigejhabbnmfbbebmchkkjhcdjmeli?hl=en
Image Search Options: This is a more powerful version of the tool above that extends the image searching to other image databases. Can't find the sauce for a specific image? Need that 2D smut doujin but can't find it anywhere? his add-on might help! It allows for the addition of many reverse image search engines to look stuff up and includes IQDB and E-Hentai reverse image search.
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/image-search-options/?src=ss
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/image-search-options/kljmejbpilkadikecejccebmccagifhl?hl=en
Stop being that guy
Rehost Image : Tired of people telling you to stop hotlinking shit? Install this add-on. With one click it uploads the image to imgur and copies the link to your clipboard. Simple, easy and straightforward.
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/rehost-image/
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/rehost-image-and-copy-url/dfobpamjmnblabhlmobcbednmholckad?hl=en
Pleasing your inner stream warrior
FGC live streams! : This add-on lists all FGC related streams taking place now or in the near future.
Firefox - Not available at all.
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/fgc-live-streams/fkckfjgljhjinkncdapchgcikaiampcn
Social networking is shit, so let's make it less shit!
Facebook
Facebook's layout changes are ass and they are frequent. Let's fix that with these handy addons but be aware that Facebook likes breaking them sometimes so if you get errors when you visit facebook I recommend disabling them
Social Fixer : Get it at socialfixer.com/ , click on your browser and follow the link. It makes facebook highly customizable and makes it a better viewing experience overall. I recommend fixed left columns with single panel timeline.
F.B. Purity - Cleans up Facebook : Allows you to automatically hide a bunch of shit that shows up on feeds like your friend's useless game updates and such. Goes well with Social Fixer. Get it at www.fbpurity.com/
More coming.
Greasemonkey scripts
Scripts can be used to further enhance the functionality of webpages and the browser to do all sorts of stuff that isn't possible out of the box.
Greasemonkey : First you need to install the extension. Even though Chrome supports MOST scripts out of the box, you might need to install the extension for the extra functionality, so install it anyway just to be safe.
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/?src=ss
Tampermonkey : Chrome equivalent
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tampermonkey/dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo?hl=en
You can find userscripts at userscripts.org:8080/ . The following scripts are just scripts I use which may or may not suit your needs.
Youtube Link Title : Converts youtube links to show the video's title instead.
userscripts.org:8080/scripts/show/83584
Yays! (Yet Another Youtube Scripts) : Adds some functionality to Youtube so it's less annoying and settings actually stick.
userscripts.org:8080/scripts/show/65477
Show Just Image 3 : Takes many websites and improves them by showing you the image automatically instead of having you right click > view image. Note that this can be annoying with certain websites like imgur if you want to upload the images and copy the link that includes the image tags as this doesn't let you do that. I think it doesn't play nice with flickr either but you can also exclude that so I recommend it anyway. In order to exclude an item, just edit the script, find the domain and change it from // @include to // @exclude then save.
userscripts.org:8080/scripts/show/109890
Pixiv
Many of us like our 2D smut and Pixiv is the go to place to get the latest and (not so) greatest. Problem is that Pixiv is in Japanese so it's a pain in the ass (and might be removing access for silly baka-gaijins)!
Pixiv Translation Plus : Translates many parts of Pixiv so they're in English.
userscripts.org:8080/scripts/show/65644
Pixiv++ : Adds a bunch of functionality to the site even though that hovering panel has an unwanted side effect of pushing the page away but you set it once and don't have to deal with it again for the most part.
userscripts.org:8080/scripts/show/152165
4chan
A lot of you go to 4chan so here is some 4chan stuff to make it not suck. Even with the newly added extension and functions, it's still pretty bad. These add-ons require tweaking but they're easy to use.
4chan X : This adds functionality to the website and let's you change A LOT of things. You can hide boards you don't wish to visit, you can change how the navigation is displayed. You can make everyone anonymous, make all spoilers show, etc. It doesn't come with themes so you're going to install OneeChan if you want themes.
4chan-x.just-believe.in/
OneeChan : This contains a bunch of different color schemes and mascots for 4chan. Has flexibility in how you can customize it so you can make it exactly how you want it.
seaweedchan.github.io/OneeChan/
Appchan X : This is a fork of the original 4chan X with the themes bundled in as well. This is the one I use at the moment but it requires the most tweaking to get everything you want.
zixaphir.github.io/appchan-x/
Linkification
This is going to be a little different since this can be done via extensions AND userscripts so I wll just post it all here .
Linkify Plus Userscript : Turns text URLs into clickable items and this one works most if not all the time from what I can tell.
Userscript - userscripts.org:8080/scripts/show/1352
Linkification for Firefox : addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/linkification/
Chrome : The ones available aren't on par with the GS script. Use the userscript instead.
More coming soon.
Themes and Personas
We are going to make all of Firefox Dark to begin with. This is completely optional and not required to do anything else. You can just use anything you like here and there's thousands of themes/personas so just find something you like and stick with it.
Firefox:
FT DeepDark : My theme of choice at the moment.
addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/ft-deepdark/
Personas are similar to themes but they can have a bunch of cute shit and pretty decorations. However they can look out of place depending on how customized you have so use a theme if possible.
Chrome:
Morpheon Dark : This is what I use on Chromium. chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/morpheon-dark/mafbdhjdkjnoafhfelkjpchpaepjknad?hl=en
Stylish Style Sheets
Style sheets let you customize the look of the website with CSS. Are you tired of a specific website blinding you with no dark theme available? Hunt for one in the database! userstyles.org/
Stylish : Once again, you will need to install an addon. This handles the style sheets.
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stylish/fjnbnpbmkenffdnngjfgmeleoegfcffe?hl=en
userstyles.org - Dark : Dark theme for userstyles.org
userstyles.org/styles/57030/userstyles-org-dark
Painted black - forms : This will make all forms (search bars, name entry, etc) black. Necessary if using dark websites themes.
userstyles.org/styles/3865/painted-black-forms
Black Youtube by Panos : Makes youtube black.
userstyles.org/styles/62289/black-youtube-by-panos
Chelyos' Twitch - Dark Theme : Makes TwitchTV black for new layout.
userstyles.org/styles/78837/chelyo-s-twitch-dark-theme
Facebook - dark-facebook : Makes Facebook dark.
userstyles.org/styles/56731/facebook-dark-facebook
IMDB - Dark Theme : Makes IMDB dark, and yes I am going to keep writing these useless descriptions!
userstyles.org/styles/26913/imdb-dark-theme
Pixiv.net - Grey Blue : Makes it Grey Blue and not black.
userstyles.org/styles/46026/pixiv-net-grey-blue
GT DeepDark theme for Google : Makes some webpages on Google match the DeepDark theme for firefox.
userstyles.org/styles/81403/gt-deepdark-theme-for-google
Another alternative to GT DeepDark theme for Google is :
Dark Google FTW : This one is a bit more complete but it has some annoying stuff.
userstyles.org/styles/50113/dark-google-ftw
If you install this one I recommend getting rid of the background image. Just hit the edit button after selecting the theme and find the line that says
and change it to
Since you removed the image, the rest of the code telling the image to be in a fixed position isn't necessary.
If you installed Dark Google FTW this isn't necessary.
Perfect Dark Google Maps : Since the above style doesn't work on Google Maps, you need to install this.
userstyles.org/styles/40405/perfect-dark-google-maps
Gmail
If you use Gmail, set the theme to Dark. This will make it fine for the most part but if you want to enhance it, you can do it with a few themes.
Gmail add labels to toolbar icons : Adds labels to the toolbar icons if you want. Doesn't play nice with dark themes. I don't use this but someone might find it useful. Will add how to fix this in a bit.
userstyles.org/styles/57710/gmail-add-labels-to-toolbar-icons
Gmail easy access colored buttons : Adds colored icons to the theme. Change to Dark Theme before installing in the userstyle page. Personal favorite since colors are useful for quickly identifying things.
userstyles.org/styles/56063/gmail-easy-access-colored-buttons
New Gmail combined style text + colour buttons : style that combines stuff listed above. Will also need to fix dark text with dark themes.
userstyles.org/styles/59126/new-gmail-combined-style-text-colour-buttons
Perfect Dark Gmail : Since this theme is deleted technically, you might not be able to install it, but if you can then this is my favorite Gmail theme to have on top of Gmail's dark theme.
userstyles.org/styles/36104/perfect-dark-gmail
"Okay you Perverted Bastard, this stuff is great and all but what if I have to format and re-install all of this shit?!"
FRET NOT, JUST BACK DATAS(S) UP! (Someone please kill me now)
In order to back up all our progress, we are going to require an extension.
FEBE : Also known as Firefox Environment Backup Extension is probably one of the best browser tools ever and I can't believe I forgot to add it on my initial write up! This fucking thing is AMAZING, so get it here.
addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/febe/?src=search
Once it is installed, we are going to have to configure it but that's alright as I will tell you everything that you need to do!
[*]If you want to separate your FEBE uploads from the rest of the files, create a sub-directory and use that. Make sure you have HTTPS (Secure) checked under box.net connection protocol and test your login info to make sure everything is in order.
[/ul]
Chrome users need to wait while I find something similar.
"DAMMIT! I had to re-install everything and I don't want to set this all up again. What the hell do I do?!"
Well, if you decided to follow my advice, you should have a backup of your profile as well as a copy of FEBE on Box.net or another backup method. If you don't, you have to do it all over again. Sorry!
Now let's restore that profile!
Chrome users need to wait while I find something similar.
Part 2 : Intermediate add-ons to enhance your browser
Coming sometime in the future once I finish part one.
To do :
More userscripts
More userstyles
Chrome backup.

DISCLAIMER
I suffer from migraines and they are easily triggered by being on the computer for long periods of time staring at bright webpages with dark text even with low brightness and the lights on. Personas are similar to themes but they can have a bunch of cute shit and pretty decorations. However they can look out of place depending on how customized you have so use a theme if possible.
Chrome:
Morpheon Dark : This is what I use on Chromium. chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/morpheon-dark/mafbdhjdkjnoafhfelkjpchpaepjknad?hl=en
Stylish Style Sheets
Style sheets let you customize the look of the website with CSS. Are you tired of a specific website blinding you with no dark theme available? Hunt for one in the database! userstyles.org/
Stylish : Once again, you will need to install an addon. This handles the style sheets.
Firefox - addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/
Chrome - chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/stylish/fjnbnpbmkenffdnngjfgmeleoegfcffe?hl=en
userstyles.org - Dark : Dark theme for userstyles.org
userstyles.org/styles/57030/userstyles-org-dark
Painted black - forms : This will make all forms (search bars, name entry, etc) black. Necessary if using dark websites themes.
userstyles.org/styles/3865/painted-black-forms
Black Youtube by Panos : Makes youtube black.
userstyles.org/styles/62289/black-youtube-by-panos
Chelyos' Twitch - Dark Theme : Makes TwitchTV black for new layout.
userstyles.org/styles/78837/chelyo-s-twitch-dark-theme
Facebook - dark-facebook : Makes Facebook dark.
userstyles.org/styles/56731/facebook-dark-facebook
IMDB - Dark Theme : Makes IMDB dark, and yes I am going to keep writing these useless descriptions!
userstyles.org/styles/26913/imdb-dark-theme
Pixiv.net - Grey Blue : Makes it Grey Blue and not black.
userstyles.org/styles/46026/pixiv-net-grey-blue
GT DeepDark theme for Google : Makes some webpages on Google match the DeepDark theme for firefox.
userstyles.org/styles/81403/gt-deepdark-theme-for-google
Another alternative to GT DeepDark theme for Google is :
Dark Google FTW : This one is a bit more complete but it has some annoying stuff.

If you install this one I recommend getting rid of the background image. Just hit the edit button after selecting the theme and find the line that says
html {background: url("<a class="linkificator-ext" href="<a class="linkificator-ext" href="<a class="linkificator-ext" href="http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg" title="Linkificator: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg">http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg</a>" title="Linkificator: <a class="linkificator-ext" href="http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg" title="Linkificator: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg">http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg</a>"><a class="linkificator-ext" href="http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg" title="Linkificator: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg">http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg</a></a>" title="Linkificator: <a class="linkificator-ext" href="<a class="linkificator-ext" href="http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg" title="Linkificator: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg">http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg</a>" title="Linkificator: <a class="linkificator-ext" href="http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg" title="Linkificator: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg">http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg</a>"><a class="linkificator-ext" href="http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg" title="Linkificator: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg">http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg</a></a>"><a class="linkificator-ext" href="<a class="linkificator-ext" href="http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg" title="Linkificator: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg">http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg</a>" title="Linkificator: <a class="linkificator-ext" href="http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg" title="Linkificator: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg">http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg</a>"><a class="linkificator-ext" href="http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg" title="Linkificator: http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg">http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/7383/abstractpaintingy.jpg</a></a></a>") #1C1C1C right center fixed no-repeat !important}
and change it to
html {background: #1C1C1C !important; }
Since you removed the image, the rest of the code telling the image to be in a fixed position isn't necessary.
If you installed Dark Google FTW this isn't necessary.
Perfect Dark Google Maps : Since the above style doesn't work on Google Maps, you need to install this.

Backing everything up so you don't regret it later.

Chrome users need to wait while I find something similar.
Restoring your backup.
