NOTE: Considering how th emizuumi wiki is being worked on to become the standard codex for reference, I will link to it here at the beginning once it's finished. I just didn't want to lose all of this work.

And Vampire Hunter, but who plays that game
With the release of Darkstalkers: Resurrection on PSN and XBL, I figured I'd make a neat little topic so the main thread won't get clogged up by a certain member's Vampire Savior posts. Or, rather, the idea of making a thread in the first place hadn't crossed my mind since I've been super busy the past few days, and Mustachio and breezy reminded me that they had suggested I make one. It'll also serve as a good place to ask questions, figure out stuff, or complain about Sasquatch and Wolf if you don't feel like posting in the main thread.
Vampire Savior is the third installment in the Darkstalkers (Vampire in Japan) series, released in the fine Spring of 1997. It differs from the rest of the series - and most fighting games in general - by its heavy emphasis on momentum-based rushdown with quick turnarounds due to its system mechanics, like the Down system, which carries health values and screen positioning into the next "round," instead of a traditional KO system (I can't think of many other fighters that use a system like this, with Joy Mech Fight being the only thing that comes to mind. I think one or some of the Gundam games use it, too). It's also pretty balanced for a Capcom game, with every character having their own unique methods of pressuring/mixing up/oki, though clear dichotomies between the upper and lower tiers are still very apparent. Vampire Savior was followed by the creatively-named Vampire Savior 2, which included content cut from the original game like Phobos/Huitzil, Donovan, and Pyron, and made system changes that are widely regarded as for the worst, like the removal of air chains unless the player activates a universal Dark Force. That game in turn was followed by Vampire Hunter 2, which is mostly forgotten because it has a confusing name when placed on the series' timeline and is probably an even worse game. At least it actually nerfed Sasquatch.
But what good is pointless history of the game without some resources to back it up?
Tier List
Because some people really care about the strength of their character.
Use tier lists as a general guide for how well you will probably fare in a matchup, but don't let them be your destiny. This is especially true for this game.

I'm hesitant to add a lot of American names because not many are shown on stream, yet are highly talented. I'll do that later.
Information overload? Perhaps. But I felt I needed a place to organize these resources, and hopefully some people/you guys will be able to get some use out of them.
That's enough of me talking, have fun!
IMPORTANT: IF YOU ARE NEW TO THIS GAME, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLAY ON TURBO SETTINGS! 'NORMAL' FEELS LIKE SWIMMING THROUGH A SEA OF MOLASSES AND TURBO IS THE SPEED AT WHICH THE ARCADE CABINETS ARE RUN. DO NOT PLAY ON NORMAL!!!!

An excellent place to start, and should help give you a basic idea of how you should approach your character. It's under construction, but the useful info is still there.

Check out the character threads for more in-depth discussion. They're lengthy and rough, but should give you more of a grounding as far as chains and neutral game goes.
